May is on it's way

HI My Lovies!
Well our Pitbulls for Pinups event went Great. Lots of people came out and joined us with their adorable pitbull friends, and we even got a little coverage from the local FOX news and NEWSCENTER 1. (Even though all you could see was my torso..lol) It was a great thing to be a part of.

Now we are gearing up for the March for Babies 3 mile walk, and I am really excited. Even though I only have 17 days left to raise $120 to reach my goal, I'm optimistic that I can make it happen! And I'm really excited because my family, my friend and her kids are all walking with me, as well as the great woman of The Dakotas Modified Dolls Chapter! I think it's going to be a great time and a great event!

It took me 1 hour and 20 minutes to walk my 3.2 miles yesterday, and I still have to walk today.. but my goal is to get to be able to walk it in an hour or under by the time the walk is here. I'll keep you guys posted with my progress!

If you're interested in helping the cause go to: www.marchforbabies.org/Mama_D_Doll and check it out! And remember you don't have to donate large amounts to help, every dollar helps :)

Well I love you all, and Hope this spring finds you blessed!

I'M BACK!!

Hello Loves, well after a year, I am finally back on the blog. I lost my sign-in information, and to be honest didn't have much to post. At least that's what I thought, though as with everyone, now that I look back, a lot has changed in the last  year. Although, to be completely fair, most of it didn't happen until the last few months :)

John has been working at Rapid Salvage and Import for almost a year now, and seems to really like it. I think sometimes the hours and hard labor make him a little cranky, but isn't that they way it is with anyone that is working.

Onzlo will turn 2 in July, and we are definitely testing our limits. He looks just like his daddy, and seems to have my temper... so we spend a great deal of time flopping around on the floor together. It's a good thing the little stinker is so adorable!

Tavner is almost done with his school year. He didn't do as well this year, grades wise, we had some serious hiccups, but he seems to be getting back on track, and is still has maintained a solid B average. So we are really proud. He played Football and Basketball this year, and I think is regretting not getting into track a little bit.

I have been staying at home since September of last year, and it seems to have helped the kids a great deal, and my mood....

We are also currently under contract for a new home, which we are SUPER excited about. It's a completely remodeled Victorian home in Lead, SD. Getting back to the hills. and we really excited about it. If no glitches come we are looking at being in the home by June! :)

I also joined a group called The Modified Dolls, which is a not for profit organization, that takes part in different activities and fundraising events to raise money for different charities. Each month a different Charity is chosen, and we work to spread awareness for that charity. The goal is to make a difference in the world, while showing that what makes us different, doesn't make us bad. So you can expect to see a lot more posts in regards to our events! I hope ya'all will be able to make it out to some of the events, or find a way to show some support to the causes that are close to your hearts!

Well we love you all, and I will be back in touch, long before April of  2014~

WOW~

It's hard to believe it's been almost a year since I've posted on here. John & I just celebrated our 1st anniversary earlier this month, and Onzlo turned 9 months... It's amazing how time flies. I didn't realize what a huge adjustment being married was going to be us. I guess I had the mistaken idea, that because we had lived together before we got married, we would already be adjusted... Boy was I wrong!

But so far we are getting through the adjustments, and making married life work. It's hard to believe that you can love so many people SO much, but I can't imagine my life without any of my 3 boys. Even though Tavner is starting to go through that lovely time we call "Teenage" years.... so, I'm getting a lot more attitude and a lot less hugs, but all around he still manages to be a great kid, that I am really proud of. It seems like everyday that he shows me what a great man he is going to be!

Onzlo is crawling up a storm, climbing up to stand up on EVERYTHING!!! and very determined that he wants to walk RIGHT NOW!!! lol... there isn't a day that goes by that that little hellion doesn't make me laugh!

I also started a new job in January, for a dog breeder named Deb Dickson. She has become a wonderful friend and a great boss. I <3 what I do there, and going to work often gives me the time I need to find focus and patience for the rest of my day..

All and all, it's been a great, fun filled year, and I can't wait to see what the rest of it brings

Onzlo Bileyeu Grimsrud

Onzlo was born July 20th, 2011 at 8:44am via repeat c-section. He weighed in at a health 8lbs. 11oz. despite being 3 weeks early. He had no complications, and is a wonderful, beautiful, healthy little boy. We spent to nights in the hospital and came home on Thursday. When we left the hospital, his jaundice levels where high, but not high enough for any intervention. John and I had discussed our feeding options a long time ago, and both agreed that Exclusively Breastfeeding was the healthier way to go, and that is what we would be doing. I was very frustrated when the oncall pediatrician told me that Onzlo had lost 7% of his birth weight(normal is 5-10%) and that I should consider supplementing after my breastfeeding with formula.....Excuse me? If everything is within normal range, why on earth would I do something like that?!

At any rate our first day and night home was ROUGH! He had a circumsion right before we left the hospital, so he was sore and cranky, and we've had a difficult time getting the breastfeeding thing down. So he didn't eat much that first 24hrs. So on Saturday, we woke him up every hour to feed, since my milk was coming in, and he needed the nutrition. It took awhile, but we finally hit a rythm where getting him to latch on wasn't as difficult, and he was nursing better. Saturday night I got him up every 3 hours to nurse, and Sunday he was nursing great within that 3 hour range that they suggest. He's been more alert, and looking around for longer periods of time before going to sleep. All and all we are on the right track..
So today was his newborn checkup. They did the test for his Jaundice level, and did his weight, which is at 7lbs. 4 oz. which is a few ounces over the 10% recommended weight loss maximum. I get that, but we have 2 weeks for that weight to come back up to birth weight. I didn't get the Jaundice level until we got home today, but again before we left, the pediatrician (a different one) also suggested I start considering formula. By this time I am irritated and concerned. I mean, I want my baby to be health, and I want to what is best for him. This should be breastfeeding, but what if I am really messing up?

My next errand was to stop by the WIC office to get a pump, talk to the lactation specialist, and schedule an appointment with my consultant. So I'm talking to the specialist, who suggests that I wait at least 3 weeks before getting the pump, and explains to me, that many moms who get the pump, end up using the bottle before they should, because.. uhhhmmm, they get worried that their supply isn't enough for baby. Ok. Then we discuss what the pediatrician visit. The specialist then informs me of the stuff that the Dr. did not... That they don't expect baby to be back at birth weight until their 2 week checkup, that babies are born with a lot of excess fluids, and that the level of jaundice we left the hospital with isn't bad at all, and that he looks really good. But mostly, her advice was that he is my baby, and I am doing what is best for him, and it's okay to stand up for the fact that we will not be formula feeding. She also said that everything I've told her points to the fact that he is getting better. Oh, and what made me feel much better once they did call me with his test results.. that jaundice usually peaks at day 5 ( Today) and will start to go down from there! WOW amazing how the DOCTOR couldn't mention any of these things, but instead used the old, you could always use formula, to try and overcome my worries!

We won't be using THAT pediatrician as our main one either! The office did call me and let me know that his jaundice level was a 20 and that they wanted him on a biliblanket for a couple of days, so John and Tavner went to town to pick that up... All and all it's been a rough week, but we are getting through, and despite some hiccups, lil Onzlo is doing really well, and is enjoying all the love and attention he is getting from Mom, Dad, Brother, all his "aunties and uncles" and Grandparents.

Love,

31 weeks and counting?

Well we had our monthly appointment yesterday. Everything went well, if you don't count the doctor reminding me how everything cheap and fullfilling(aka. potatoes, rice, pasta, SODA) should be off limits, or at least consumed in limited amounts considering I barely passed my glucose tolerance test.

But on the positive side was that the baby is health, heart beat was within normal range 154 beats per minute. And the doctor didn't seem too concerned about anything, it's always good when they think everything is "right on track" as he likes to say!

I was a little surprised to hear him say he wanted to give us another ultrasound at our next appointment, because I am measuring a little large.... so sounds like we may be taking Mr. Anslowe a little bit early, but we wont know for sure what is going on for another 3 weeks... so until then, we will stay with the date the doctor was pondering as of yesterday August 2, 2011 (sorry Ash) for lil'boy'bileyeu's potential birthday!

We love you all and will keep you posted!
